MACHA at the Break

December 17, 2011 - The MACHA has become one of the strongest conferences with the wealth of talent in both Gold and Silver, with many teams being ranked going into the Holiday Break. Even more, Playoff races are heating up, as SIUe has taken a slight edge holding the tiebreaker over a white hot Iowa club, winning its last 8 Gold Conference Games. Mizzou has emerged as a top power as well, turning a dismal 2010-11 season into a contender in 2011-12, vying for a top spot in the MACHA and alongside Missouri State and ISU, will be a player for a top 10 spot in the ACHA Central Region at we near season's end. D2 Rankings #3 should come out near Christmas.

In Silver, Marquette and RMU-Peoria are the only clubs without losses thus far, Marquette leading the North with 28 points and has one series left, against #2 Wisconsin-Platteville. Bradley currently leads the South with 20 points, but RMU-Peoria is hot on their heels with 6 games in hand, and has 3 series remaining against teams currently out of the playoff picture.

RMU-Peoria is also gunning for an Autobid to Regionals in the D3 North fairing admirably against some of the top programs at the D3 level in a showcase prior to break. 4 North teams are competing for the final 2 spots for playoffs as Iowa and Iowa State, both in playoff contention are only separated by 1 point. Northwestern and NIU are on the doorstep, but will need help as Iowa State has 4 games in hand on Iowa, Northwestern, and NIU.
