MACHA All Star Challenge Team

2012-13 MACHA Gold Playoffs

Friday 2/15
Game 1 Missouri vs NIU - After a close 1st period, Missouri comes on strong in the 2nd period scoring 4 unanswered goals. Missouri goes on to win 7-2.
Game 2 SLU vs SIUE.  SIUE comes out flying taking a 6-0 lead after 1 period.  SIUE Hammers SLU 9-0.
 
Saturday 2/16
Game 3  SIUE vs Mo State.  Mo State scores late in the 1st period to take a 1-0 lead.  SIUE comes back strong in the 2nd period taking a 3-2 lead.  Mo State scores with 5 minutes left to tie the game.  SIUE scores at 1:14 to take a 4-3 lead.  Mo State gets a late PP but is unable to tie the game.  SIUE wins 4-3
Game 4  Missouri vs Illinois State.  Illinois State scores late in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.  Illinois State extends the lead to 3-1 after 2 periods.  Missouri comes back in the 3rd period with 2 goals to tie the game at 3-3.  In OT both teams have scoring chances before Missouri finds the back of the net to win 4-3 in an exciting OT finish.
 
Sunday 2/17
Championship -  Missouri vs SIUE. Both teams start strong but SIUE takes a 1-0 lead after 1 period.  Missouri ties the game at 1-1 in the 2nd period.  SIUE scores at the 15 minute mark in the 3rd period and the teams battle for the remainder of the game.  The game ends with Missouri having two close scoring opportunities in the last 20 seconds.  In the end SIUE holds off Missouri for a hard fought 2-1 victory and the MACHA Gold Playoff Championship.
 
Good Luck to Illinois State, Mo State, NIU and SIUE next week at regionals in Chicago.  We hope to see everyone March 15 - 19 in St. Louis at the ACHA D2 National Tournament.

2012-13 MACHA Silver Playoffs

The 2012-13 MACHA Silver Playoffs seedings are as follows:

  1. RMU-Peoria
  2. Marquette
  3. Iowa State
  4. U Wisconsin Platteville
  5. Illinois State
  6. Northwestern
  7. Bradley
  8. Missouri State

The Games will take place at the Owens Center in Peoria, IL With the following schedule:

11am - UW-Platteville 5 vs Illinois State 0
1:45pm - Marquette 1 vs Bradley 1
4:30pm - Iowa State 8 vs. Northwestern 0
7:15pm - RMU-Peoria 5 vs Missouri State 8

Teams will be reseeded for Saturday games

4:15pm - Missouri State 4 Marquette 3 F/OT
6:45pm - U-WP 3 Iowa State 0

Championship Game U-Wisc. Platteville 4 - Missouri State 1

MACHA Division Realignment

Gold Division

The Gold Division had some definite adjustments, adding perennial top 15 ranked Illinois (D2), as well as a rebuilt and reinvigorated Eastern Illinois. Both will serve one year as a probationary team to ensure that they meet MACHA Obligations as a Gold team, and maintain the competitiveness the Gold Division is known for. Illinois and Eastern will not be eligible for playoffs for the 2012-13 season.

Silver is now broken into 3 Divisions, with the addition of Nebraska, Dordt, Kansas, Lewis, and RMU-White

The Top 2 teams from each division will make the playoffs, plus 2 wild card spots decided on Winning Percentage. Lewis, Western, Dordt, and Nebraska all enter the Silver as Probationary teams and will not be eligible for the Silver Playoffs.

RMU-Peoria will host the Silver Playoffs at the Owens Center in Peoria, IL Feb 8-10
